Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic Dentistry refers to dental treatments that improve the appearance of a patient’s teeth, gums, bite or smile. There a number of treatments which can enhance appearance but not all treatments are best suited to all patients. Our Dentists will be able to advise the most suitable options based on your current concerns, desired outcomes and budget.

Our Dentists at Refresh Smiles Dental may recommend one or more of the following dental treatments if you are looking to improve your teeth and smile.

Types of cosmetic dentistry procedures:

Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening is a cosmetic dentistry procedure which can lighten the colour of teeth.  This procedure has the best results when completed by a Dentist. There are many different forms of whitening that we can use to achieve the best result for your individual needs. These range from the over the counter DIY, take home whitening kit and in chair whitening. We proudly use opalescence whitening to help you achieve the most ideal result for you.

White Fillings

The most basic of materials is called composite resin. This is traditionally known as the “white fillings”. We are an exclusively amalgam (silver fillings) free practice.

Composite resin is used for a variety of reasons. It can be used for small to medium size fillings or it can be used to build up lost tooth structure (as pictured above).

One of the main disadvantages with composite resin however is strength. If a tooth has lost more than 50%, it is advisable to look at better materials like gold or ceramics.

Dental Implants

Dental implants offer patients the opportunity to replace lost or missing teeth and greatly enhance not only appearance but functionality. Implants can be thought of as artificial roots that are securely anchored in the jaw. They are cylindrical devices made of medical grade titanium which are placed in the site of a missing tooth or teeth where they biologically bond with the bone. A ceramic crown made to match existing teeth is then attached to the securely anchored implant.
